Innovation & Entrepreneurship
I built my first venture at 13 years old from my childhood home in Syria: a teenage magazine where pop culture hadn't yet reached. Since then, I've brought new initiatives nearly every where I've been, and officially started 3 companies. Excited to apply the learnings of my entrepreneurial path through various industries and capacities. Below are some of the highlights:
Built a product that connects user over sharing meals at local restaurants.
-
Bootstrapped to a 5-figure revenue month within the first month of launch.
-
Pitched and sold TechCrunch on Okel's B2B Conference service (created on the spot!) while attending a TechCrunch conference.
-
Turned down a returning client's 5-fig deal to pursue a web3 opportunity and relocate to Europe.
Co-produced the pilot for a docuseries: Talk With Your Mouth Full, where a Syrian Christian vegan and a Jewish American omnivore unite disparate strangers over meals prepared by immigrant chefs.
Founded Refugee Revive at Emory University to empower the local refugee community through programming that aims to increase equitable access to education and promote entrepreneurship.
-
Scaled the organization from myself alone to 132 members in year 1
-
Implemented & maintained partnerships with local NGOs and organizations
-
Strategized with local refugee-owned businesses & built programming to support their revenue growth opportunities
Have most recently been experimenting and learning through building a fashion e-commerce brand to enrich my knowledge and expertise in expanding sales and distributions channels, paid advertising, organic growth, and setting best customer support practices.
Social Scavenger Hunt
One of my proudest adventures is a social scavenger hunt: an online game I founded for my first-year incoming class at Emory University during orientation summer. More than 130 students participated in weekly activities with the intention of helping students engage and connect, resulting in friendships that have lasted for years to come (for myself included:)).
